The Giving Spirit - What We Do
The Giving Spirit provides aid to women, children and families in Los Angeles who are left vulnerable due to homelessness. Our volunteers personally distribute survival kits to families living on the streets throughout the greater Downtown Los Angeles region. Our efforts have positively impacted the lives of our volunteers and our homeless friends from Skid Row and Santa Monica.

Help End Child Homelessness
Of more than a quarter of a million homeless people living in the county of Los Angeles, unaccompanied youth account for an estimated total of about 10,000 of these people. In fact, according to the Weingart Center’s Institute for The Study of Homelessness and Poverty, as children 27% of this population lived in foster care or group homes; 25% were physically or sexually abused. Volunteering For the Holidays
In December 2012 we delivered 2500 survival kits to homeless families all throughout the city of Los Angeles. We want to be able to do more this year. We cannot express enough how important it is for volunteers to join in The Giving Spirit’s annual Holidays charity events. The holidays remind us of just how much we have and just how little others need. Your time and giving heart is all that is truly required to be of service to your fellow man. |
